Come along to any of nine sessions we are running over the weekend. Each session has a theme but you are welcome to any of them! All you need is a pair of flat shoes or trainers if you wish to have a bowl.
Friday 28th May
2pm - 4pm General session for anyone to come along, meet some members and have a look around the club. Have a roll for fun. We have bowls of different sizes available.
6pm - 8pm Social session. The club lounge and bar will be open with very reasonably priced refreshments. Have a game of pool or a game of darts (we have two dartboards). Everyone is still welcome to have a bowl outdoors. We do have a home match on the same evening so something to watch as well.
Saturday 29th May
10am - 12pm Family session. Come along and bring the family! We have
-
new age bowls (made from plastic foam) for ages 3 years and over
-
junior bowls for ages 9 and over
-
teenagers generally use the smaller adult sizes
Bowl to a jack or go for a high score on our bulls-eye target or scoring wedge.
2pm - 4pm Ladies Bowls & Prosecco!! In the afternoon we welcome all ladies to come and have a bowl. There is a free glass of Prosecco for each lady (18 or over) on arrival, younger ladies are welcome to a free soft drink :) Partners are also welcome. Our ladies play socially or in mixed teams at present. We'd love to start a ladies only team as well and set up some friendlies with local clubs.
6pm - 8pm Social session. The club lounge and bar will be open with very reasonably priced refreshments. There will be live music courtesy of our very own Peter "Ayup" Merrill (aka Batteries Not Included). Take the chance to relax, enjoy a drink and a natter and have a game of something if you like, it's up to you.
Sunday 30th May
10am - 12pm Family session. Enjoy a chilled Sunday morning with fun on the green. As per Saturday we have
-
new age bowls (made from plastic foam) for ages 3 years and over
-
junior bowls for ages 9 and over
-
teenagers generally use the smaller adult sizes
Have a family game or adults on one rink with kids having their own game on the next rink.
2pm - 4pm Disability Bowls. This session is particularly for anyone with a disability and this can be physical, sensory, learning (intellectual) or a hidden disability even. We all have abilities and bowls can be played by all. Check out the Disability Bowls England website. Come and see our club for yourself. We have an accessible toilet and have newly widened our main pathway; we also have ramps to enable wheelchair access to the green (75mm min wheel width). We would love to see more groups with disabilities/abilities enjoying bowls.
6pm - 8pm Social session. The club lounge and bar will be open with very reasonably priced refreshments. Gentle background music will be playing so take a break and relax with a drink indoors or outdoors. Our club lounge has just been redecorated in a soft pink or you have pastoral green outdoors.
Monday 31st May
2pm onward Spoon Drive If you have come along to one of our previous sessions (or not) and would like to take part in an actual competition (its all friendly!) we will be holding something called a "spoon drive" on Monday afternoon. What's a spoon drive you ask? Basically everyone entering is randomly drawn in teams. The idea is you get to meet and play with different people. Its a bit of fun but there is an actual trophy awarded to the winner overall - on this occasion it will be the Culley Cup.
Depending on the lockdown rules at the time you may be able to just watch if you prefer.
All sessions above will be subject to the latest guidance- there will be someone to check you in and take details for NHS Track & Trace purposes.
OOPS! Missed or can't make any of the sessions? Don't worry - just come along to one of our regular Monday evening social rollups (6pm from May 17th). These are ideal for new members and beginners to the game of bowls as well.
